Boothbay Harbor, Maine The 17th Annual Classic Lyman and Antique Boat Rendezvous offers opportunities for boat owners, visitors, and spectators alike.

The 2012 Rendezvous is packed with weekend-long events beginning Friday evening, August 4th, with a cocktail reception and dinner for all antique and classic boat owners and their guests at the Carousel Marina. The reception begins at 5:30 PM, and dinner follows. Come by car or boat. There’s plenty of parking and/or dockage. Carousel is the site of the famous (1950’s) musical film staring Shirley Jones and Gordon McRae. For directions, call 207-633-2922.

On Saturday, August 4th, the fun moves to the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club, the oldest Yacht Club in Maine. Boats should plan to arrive between 10 and 11 AM for a couple hours of Dock Watch, a great opportunity to see these beautiful vessels up close and shining. A 12:30 PM luncheon for boat owners and guests will be followed by a harbor parade expected to get underway at 2:30 PM. The parade will circle picturesque Boothbay Harbor, and all are invited to watch these classics glide by from points along the shore.

Rendezvous participants who wish to will proceed around Ocean Point and down the Damariscotta River to the Ocean Point Marina, site of the Annual Ship Builders Festival that begins on Saturday evening with the Boothbay Region Land Trust’s Annual Cocktail Buffet & Art Show Premiere.

On Rendezvous weekend, Boothbay Harbor has many other exciting activities at the Boothbay Harbor Opera House, The Boothbay Playhouse, and the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.

In 2011, over 100 people attended the Annual Classic Lyman and Antique Boat Rendezvous. There were 25 Lymans and other classic boats on the docks, and several restored classics on guest moorings. Everyone with a classic boat is welcome and we hope many more will attend in 2012. This Rendezvous has grown from just a few Lyman owners getting together for a lunch to a 2-day, Old Boat Lovers event. Last year we had some surprise entertainment and participants can expect surprises and awards this year too.
